“Raising the money, shooting the film, distributing it – it’s all a nightmare,” “But it’s better than working.” Jeremy Thomas
Great quote! I’m currently in the process of raising the $, shooting the film, and I haven’t even tapped into the art of finding distrubution yet. And YES, it is a nightmare at times….but it’s also the best time of my life!
I dove head first into a pool and am learning how to swim as I go! It’s a rush, it’s a disaster, it’s exciting, it’s overwhelming, it’s hard, it’s so easy, it’s silly, it’s making me stronger!
What I love most is seeing the doors that are opening for me along the way, and having the courage to walk through them. It’s all a process. Step by step. This documentary wont come together over night. But it WILL COME TOGETHER, and IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! This is my inspiration. This is my motivation. This is my determination.
This morning, as I nibbled at the bacon on her plate, and talked about her days with my hubbie on that big movie, I noticed a new glint of energy in the air. A cool chilling breeze that occasionally kissed my cheek and wispered to me…to smile.
My hubbie smiled. She smiled. She then laughed. He laughed. We all laughed.
Why? Life felt funny.
Have you ever looked at yourself and felt like you were meeting yourself for the first time?
I think I want to go back to college. I want a degree. I want to study art.
I want to document. Everything.
I want records and journals. How long will I live?
I want to smile a lot. To laugh.
I want my life to always be funny.
Can’t it always be funny???
This morning, I noticed a new glint of energy in the air. It wispered to me….
Where does the time go? When I’m meloncholy or sad…it lingers slowly along. When I’m rushed, it hobbles along at a pleasant pace. When I’m busy, it soars. But on a day like today….it just sits and stares at me.
Well it's a bit of a long story so I'll condense it down for you.
I'm originally from Adelaide in Australia, that's where I was born. My parents then moved back to where my Mum lived which was Guernsey, a tiny Island in the middle of the English Channel between France and England. I grew up there studying media and film before leaving in 2008 for London. I've been here since and I finish my BA Hons in 4 weeks before I join the many other freelancers seeking jobs. How about yourself?
Guernsey? As in “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” (book) I’ve never met anyone from there! It sounds beautiful!
I’m originally I’m from TX, but have been living in the LA area for a few years now. I love it here! Nothing beats living near the ocean as I’m sure you know…being from Guernsey. ;-)
Good stuff, I'm glad you enjoy my blog.
I see that you're on Facebook? If you want to hit me up on there about anything camera, lighting or cinematography related then feel free to add me a buddy. You can find me under 'Jay Oxley'. I'm trying to expand my connections in the states as I'd really like to come over at some point possibly next year and meet other filmmakers to possibly collaborate with.
